Napoleonic Project part 14 - All Finished !!

So this is the final post on the painting extravaganza I have put myself through in 2017.

On the 20th February of this year I announced that I was starting a new project focussing on Napoleonic Skirmish  - very soon after this announcement the project somewhat grew and has become a fill blown monster. The ambition ultimately ending up with the opportunity to field two armies of the period in sufficient numbers for three aside games in the shed.

If you want to read through this journey the first post is here with each subsequent post linked to the next
http://shedwars.blogspot.co.uk/2017/02/a-new-project-chosen-men-napoleonic.html

By my reckoning its taken me 7 months from start to finish to achieve this goal. A total of 31 Infantry Battalions (24 figures strong), 14 Cavalry Regiments (12 strong), 15 Artillery Batteries and approx 36 command stands. This equates to over 1000 figures.

The majority are plastic from Warlord and Perry so they have been assembled and primed. Special mention must however go to Front Rank not only for their great range but their superb service in helping me to fill out some of the units with key figures (eg drummers, standard bearers etc)
Every figure is individually based. These have all been painted, washed in Army Painter Dip, and then hand varnished. I am no a good painter but en masse I am told that they do the job and look the part.

Before I share with you some pictures of the full parade I'd just like to introduce the final two units that made the cut -  my Imperial Guard Grenadiers and a Swiss Battalion.

The Swiss are from Perry (standard French Line Infantry with Red Jackets and Blue Facings)

The Imperial Guard are from Victrix - I picked up a couple of sprues cheap on ebay. Rather than the standard six bases these guys have eight

So here we go.....Drums Roll......

British & Allied Forces in the foreground - French to the back

Allied Infantry - Portuguese in the Front along with the Rifles

British Horse

Napoleon musters his forces

The Infantry

The French Cavalry

French Artillery & Command

until next time - which will be when we play with these boys !!

Napoleonic Project Part 13 - French Cavalry Finished

Hi Folks

Part 12 can be found here

http://shedwars.blogspot.co.uk/2017/08/napoleonic-project-part-12-british.html

Proud to parade the rest of the French Cavalry - aside from these shown you may recall I have painted a Dragoon, Cuirassier, and Chevaux units. The French now have 8 regiments to take to the field.

First up the lancers from Warlord Games - these are nice simple figures but only six lances are use able from the box of 12 (the rest are too britlle)

Following the lancers come two units of Warlord Games Hussars -

As befitting these flamboyant chaps they are the most colourful on the table

More to come very soon

And the final part of this project can be found here

Napoleonic Project Part 12 - British Cavalry Complete !

Good Afternoon

First up for the lack of comms in the past two months - since leaving my last job the 'Shed' Family has been travelling extensively - three weeks in Indo China followed by a week in the Med - aside from these four weeks away I have been busy sorting out my garden, looking for new employment ( done ;-)) and of course using the opportunity to crack on with my rather large Napoleonic project. Over the next few days this should be completed and the first battle is imminent !

In the meantime allow me to introduce the British Cavalry - up until now I'd only finished one unit of Light Dragoons.

Part 11 of this project can be found here
http://shedwars.blogspot.co.uk/2017/07/napoleonic-project-part-11-portuguese.html

Here come the rest - Charge !!

British Heavy Dragoons courtesy of Warlord Games - a review of the box set can be found here

http://shedwars.blogspot.co.uk/2017/06/warlord-games-british-heavy-cavalry.html

I decided I preferred the helmets to the floppy bicornes

Following the heavy dragoons we have the Kings Blues & Royals - again Warlord Games

Swift on the heels of the Heavies we have two regiments of light Dragoons (Perry). These have been painted as the 1st and 2nd Regiments of the KGL

Finally a unit of KGL Hussars - the first regiment. These are from Perry

This brings the total number of British/Allied Cavalry units to 6 - a passable number to start with

Up very soon will be the French Cavalry

cheers
